Frequently Asked Questions

A mezuzah is affixed to the right doorpost (as you enter), in the lower part of the upper third of the doorway. In the Ashkenazi custom it is tilted with the top pointing toward the inside of the room. Every order includes illustrated placement instructions.

Cases are sold on their own or with an optional kosher klaf (parchment scroll) handwritten by a certified sofer and carefully inspected. Choose the scroll option on the product page before adding to cart.

Traditionally, every living-space doorway of a Jewish home requires a mezuzah, with the exception of bathrooms and small closets. Most families begin with the front entrance and add to interior doorways over time.

Every God Shema Israel case ships with screws and a strong double-sided adhesive option, plus step-by-step hanging instructions including the blessing (bracha) recited when affixing the mezuzah.

For exterior doorways exposed to sun and rain, we recommend our metal collection or a weather-sealed wooden case. Both protect the scroll from moisture - and we offer waterproof scroll sleeves for extra protection.
